Foil of the Stars is an alternative/rock/indie band based out of Toronto, pushing the envelope of being experimental with sound – while incorporating influence from the eclectic variety of music they grew up with in the 90’s.
With its members being collaborators in various songwriting projects over a period of 12 years across different cities, it became clear that it was finally time to put all the effort and art into one place, and then to bet the house on it.
The band spent a couple years living in a studio and rehearsal space together, writing and self-producing what would become their debut record “Tree of Snails” which released January 20, 2018, with mastering by Mike Kalajian (The Dear Hunter, Saosin, Against the Current, Circa Survive).
The five-song EP explores different interpretations one can have on consciousness, spontaneity, and the strange loneliness that can be felt after moving to a big city like Toronto. Sonically the songs travel all over the spectrum of ambient and introspective, to thick and full-bodied guitar and synth sounds.
“Tree of Snails” is the very first in line of multiple releases in the works from Foil of the Stars in 2018.
